Not a bad idea if your server and workstations all reside in the same
lab and the workload only needs one printer.  But if you have a
centralized server for more than one lab, or if your lab is busy enough
that 2 or 3 printers distributed the room would be handier, then
attaching to workstations might be helpful. I assume that is where will
is at.  Also attaching numerous scanners around a lab is almost a
necessity in some situations.

I am curious as to the responses for local scanners and the software to
use with them.
