[K12OSN] PXE boot problems...

What other boot alternatives do I have. Apparently, the Marvell LAN (onboard) is not
supported by Etherboot (see reply from Timothy Legge). I could put another NIC in, but
I want to use them at 1000, not 100 (I only have more 10/100s).

If I install Linux on this machine and update the LAN driver, can I create a boot disk (automatically)
to boot diskless?

(I'm fishin' here...)
As a last resort, could I install a minimal install on the harddrive to initiate the LAN and then boot from the server?

I don't mind being creative, so if anybody has ANY suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

In the mean-time, I'll be the one in the lab banging my head against the wall. Bandages anyone?

Thanks.

Hey Folks,

I am having problems booting a client machine using PXE.
The motherboard is an ASUS p4p800-e deluxe with an
onboard gigabit LAN (Marvell 88E8001).

When I boot the client, I get the following error on the client...
----------------------------------------------------

Freeing /linuxrc
mounting /proc

ERROR! Could not automatically detect network card....
......
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!
----------------------------------------------------

I get the following message on the server
--------------------------------------
Aug 25 04:36:49 server dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:0e:a6:95:89:e0 via eth0
Aug 25 04:36:50 server dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 192.168.0.253 to 00:0e:a6:95:89:e0 via eth0

Aug 25 08:36:53 server in.tftpd[2926]: tftp: client does not accept options
-------------------------------------------

Can somebody help me out? I'd boot from a disk, but can not figure out which selection(s)
to try on www.rom-o-matic.com.

Thanks,
