Yes, that's always my first thought for a 'rescue'.  If knoppix
sees the raw device (/dev/hda, etc.) but the partitions
seem wrong, try 'cat /dev/zero >/dev/hda' (being careful
to hit the right disk...), let it run a while and interrupt
with a control-c.  The next fdisk should write a new
partition table from scratch.

Depending on the disk size and the machine bios, you
may have to have special software installed to make
windows use the drive - the imaging run may have
wiped that out.  If that is the case look for a bios
flash update.
