Hey folks in education,

Mini-survey.

Those of you who have made it to the point where you are a Linux only
school.... or at least are using Linux to teach word processing,
spreadsheet, and database.

Are any of you having to take state mandated end-of-year computer
competency tests to show proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet,
and database? If so, is your state offering the test in generic
formats? Do they offer it in OpenOffice format? Or do they only have it
in proprietary formats? If proprietary, how have you dealt with that.
Specifically, have you had any problems testing when the test is in MS
formats. Also, how did you deal with the database portions of the
test?

Thanks for the input. Feel free to email me directly if you'd rather
not take up list space for this thread.

Peace,
Jimmy Schwankl

Gardening Rule:  When weeding, the best way to make sure you are
removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.  If it comes
out of the ground  easily, it is a valuable plant.
