Re: [K12OSN] Are Digital PC 500s kosher?

Hi - don't know if this'll help but we've got a few Digital Venturis FX 5166 Intel PI with PCI Ethernet DECchip 21041 and I've used toms root boot & eb-5.2.5-tulip.zlilo from rom-o-matic to make the machine boot to the network from its hard drive.

Just came across a school that has a load of Digital PC 500 (Intel 300) collecting dust - Try as I may, I can't get them to act as thin clients, or even load Linux on the HDrive. Tried RealTech NIC cards with booting Rom-O-Matic floppies to no avail. The question seems to revolve around architecture - can any guru or experienced person help clarify if these type of CPUs will work with Linux?

I don't know anything about them, but you could try downloading the
'universal boot floppy' from the thinstation project to see if any
of the included drivers match.
