I use moodle daily on my classroom network. I couldn't/wouldn't teach without my K12LTSP network or without moodle.

The courseware is getting more interesting as I find ways to help students learn by teaching others.

I'll vouch for Moodle being pretty darn neat. If the course object
framework you're refer to is SCORM, there is some degree of support for
that in Moodle.
