[K12OSN] TextMaker on LTSP

Hello,

I'm evaluating textmaker as an alternative word processor for LTSP in an
office environment. $49 per copy, so it's not free, don't know about
multi-license or educational discounts.

It's very fast, seems to use about 5-MB of memory, and in limited
testing seems to handle word files well. Also opened a couple of Word
Perfect docs without a problem, though the docs were very simple and the
company don't advertise Word Perfect compatibility.

Most important from my perspective, styles seem to perform properly,
which has not been my experience in the latest version of AbiWord.

But there's a significant issue I'm hoping one of you could possibly
shed some light on.

When you type at a thin client there is a noticeable delay between
hitting the key and seeing the letter appear on the screen. If you type
moderately fast, you can get several letters or a full word or more
ahead of yourself. This is not the case when logged in at the console.

Has anyone seen this behavior in other apps? Any suggestions on what
might cause this or how to overcome it?

(I've posted this on the vendor's forum at
http://softmaker.de/index_en.htm)

Thanks,

Robert
