K12LTSP 4.0 Fedora - Getting mp3 's to work in xmms

Like Paul said, check your sound settings with a mixer. I usually type
"kmix" in a terminal and use kmix to double check the mute settings and
the volume.

Subject: [K12OSN] xmms no sound problem

okay so here goes:
Hi everybody i'm Mike I'm new to linux, and i was introduced to this
discussion group mailing list, by my cousin Tony [www.photodharma.com]
anyway -
I am trying to get xmms to play my mp3's.
my system sound is working fine, when certain system events occur i get
sound to play without a problem.
i've downloaded all of the required plugins for xmms as far as i know.
after i've loaded a playlist when xmms starts playing i have no sound,
but it IS in fact playing.
