Jim,
I have a similar problem. I have been trying to hook up a touch screen to
a client. They error that I get is that it can not find the serial port. I
checked and there is not /dev/ttyS[01] listed. I find a lot of other tty
devices listed. My first thought that the serial ports were left out of the
kernel config. I have not had enough time to research this heavily. I will
keep plugging away at though. Any suggestions??
Thanks!!
Dan

It is probably completely a mouse problem. I've seen many occasions
where an incorrectly configured mouse will cause the keyboard to also
not work in X windows. Fix the mouse issue, and quite likely, the
keyboard will work too.
