[K12OSN] Notebook Lab

If I were to do it... I'd simply install debian on all the laptops...
run gnome/kde whichever you like...and use the laptops as stand alone
platforms...
could put whatever Educational/tainment apps you like on 'em...
But to LTSP with them would be nightmare-ish I'd agree...

oh and ltsp does work with wireless as far as the OS goes...=) I used it
as a stand alone platform for testing things at home.
I only had to add wireless support for my belkin card into the kernel
and recompile =)

I am definitely not the best person for a response on this list, but as
far as wireless I myself wouln't even consider it. For one I have had
enough trouble with wireless connection that have to be maintained
steady over a period of time. Even when you have full signal wireless
tends to drop enough packets here and there to disconnect your service,
I would think this would be havock in LTSP. Second I tried LTSP with
10mb connections and it sucked. I can't fathom any wireless connection
that would sustain enough bandwidth to make your users happy. Then you
have the fun of finding a wireless NIC that has good linux drivers.

That being said I am sure someone on the list is using it right now and
would argue everything above while sending an email from it :-)
