[K12OSN] Local printer prints test page, but not user apps

Following a hard disc crash and total system restore, my local printer
will print a test page (via printconf-gui with root login), but it won't
print from my user apps such as OpenOffice.org or Mozilla.

As user, I can also print text files by command line, e.g. lpr test.txt.

I bet the problem is dead simple, can anyone suggest where to check?
