Hi!

You have ran into a problem with useradd, the application which ncpfs uses
to create the local accounts on the linux server. The version of useradd
you use is a bit altered by Redhat. What you can do now is to replace the
useradd application with a version that lets you create users with leading
numbers in their names.

By using yum i can find out which package provides a file:

#yum provides useradd

gives:
Installed package: shadow-utils.i386 2:4.0.3-12 matches with
 /etc/default/useradd

The developers of shadow utils might know what you can do to remedy your
situation. Just remember that its probably RedHat who have done the
changes.

/cheers
