[K12OSN] Windows Terminal Services and rdesktop question

Hi all....

Once again I'm trying to figure out all the pieces of the puzzle prior to
making any commitments or doing something stupid. It's harder this way as
I can't experiment. I read on K12LTSP.org in the FAQ's about the
following:

b) connect to a [
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/technologies/terminal/ ]Windows
Terminal Server (only with [
http://www.citrix.com/products/metaframexp.asp ]Citrix Metaframe, [
http://www.microsoft.com/windows.netserver/ ]Windows 2003 Server or [
http://www.thinsoftinc.com/products_winconserver_info.html ]WinConnect
Server XP using [
http://www.thinsoftinc.com/products_winconnect_info.html ]WinConnect
client)
Though [ http://www.rdesktop.org/ ]rdesktop is included it is not wise to
use it in a production environment on a Linux Terminal Server because
more bandwith than necessary gets consumed - run it on the [
http://www.k12ltsp.org/faq.html#thin ][thin] client instead or with
software like [ http://diet-pc.sourceforge.net/ ]DIET-PC, [
http://netstation.sourceforge.net/ ]NetStation, [
http://pxes.sourceforge.net/ ]PXES or the upcoming LTSP 4 instead.

Since k12LTSP 4.02 is based on LTSP 4....will this address the bandwidth
issue? I simply want my users to click an icon within their terminal
server session (linux) and be able to launch Windows via rdesktop (only
when necessary). Is this the best way. Also....does anyone have a how-to
or quick suggestions as to how to get Windows 2003 terminal services sound
to work on the terminals? Sound would be a big plus. I'd like to
complete this move to become totally diskless and thus more dependent on
K12LTSP (smile).....and as a result be able to buy my whole new lab of
diskless workstations in the next year. I need the help of people who
have been through some of this stuff and can confirm some of it. Thx.
