[K12OSN] Logging onto the server from a windows machine

This is a simple solution which may not meet your needs.

You can carry a diskette with PuTTY on it. PuTTY is a 348 KB exe file which 
is quickly installed on a Windows box if it isn't locked down. PuTTY allows 
terminal access to any server over a network if a telnet (not advised) or 
ssh (advised) daemon  is running on the server. You will need an account on 
the target server with sufficient permissions to do your work.

PuTTY is not graphical -- it provides a terminal window. If you need a 
general purpose ncurses file manager/file editing tool, install Midnight 
Commander (mc) on the server. MC runs fairly well in a remote terminal window.
