[K12OSN] setting the default KDE menus

On Friday I edited a bunch of changes in the KDE menus ... moved things
around in /var/lib/menu/kde ... deleted certain icons, etc.  I basically
took out things that did not apply to our server setup.  I took out the
references to fax, scanning, digital camera, games, etc.

Well this Monday morning I discover that these items I had moved or deleted
from the menus, and it seemed to have taken affect on Friday.  They are all
back again.

Can someone tell me how that /var/lib/menu/kde system works.  What effect do
changes have here?  What makes it go back to its default.  Where can I
change what the defaults are like?

chmod 770 for those binaries?
and add a group 'gamers'...
chown those binaries to 'gamers' =)

maybe an easier way out there though =)
definately an alternative i'm sure...

although this doesn't do anything to the menus I don't think..
would just make clicking on the icon useless?
me? I just chmod -x civ* =) for all those civ games in the lab..

intensive games, chromium - etc.

I am thinking along the line of  /var/lib/menu/kde

Is this the right place to make changes that will affect ALL users?  Are
these changes permanent? Is there some way to give certain users all the
menu items and then a restricted set for others?
