The same issue exists in K12LTSP 4.0.x. It works fine in 4.1.x.

K12LTSP 3.1.x & 4.0.x use KDE 3.1, K12LTSP 4.1.x uses KDE 3.2.

I used the same terminal, altering only the XDM_SERVER setting,
for my testing. So I assume that the problem is in KDE or one of
the supporting libraries, rather than something on the LTSP side.
