[K12OSN] K12LTSP, Squid & SquidGuard (IT WORKS!)

I am up and running now!

I pulled the 2nd NIC and reconfigured the DNS setting on the client and I am
the proud owner of an operable content filtering box.

Thank you to all who responded! It is listservs like this one that keep me
sane, or reasonably sane anyway. Someone, somewhere knows the answer...

Thanks again!

John

Well you only *need* two NICs if you want to filter a separate private
network. The two NICs thing is from K12LTSP (the goal of that project
is to create a separate private network in a classroom using Linux as
a terminal server). You can do what you want with only one NIC since
it appears that you want to filter an already existing network. The
idea behind two NICs is that one NIC (eth0) is attached to your
separate private network (192.168.x.x) and the other NIC (eth1) is
attached to your existing network (or firewall or router or whatever).
However, you should still be able to do everything you want with
two NICs or one. If you currently don't have a DHCP server in your
network, you can use this box to do that (the K12LTSP server is setup
to do that automatically).
