[K12OSN] Java plug-in not working?

I don really know your problem could be, you already said you made the 
symbolic link to 
/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_03/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so ,  you 
you made it symbolic? because if it is a hard link it wont work.

$/home/pscheie./mozila/plugins/ln -s 
/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_03/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so  
libjavaplugin_oji.so

chek out in Help > About-Plug-ins there you must see the java plug in conf. 
if you can see ava(TM) Plug-in 1.4.2_04-b05 then it is working :D
