Hi Quentin,

This may not do it, but try just rm -rf the .gconf* hidden dirs in the 
user's home.

This will fix any gnome based apps from not starting.

I have also seen homes get messed during really bad client crashes.  
Directories in usres' home have become read only...  Wierd, but chmoding 
them back to normal fixed them up.  Also,  star/open office files become 
read only after bad crashes and have needed to be either resaved to a new 
name or chmodded.

What apps are not working?
