No personal experience but try setting 
HorizSync    31.5 - 37.9
VertRefresh  50.0 - 70.0
within these ranges in your lts.conf file. I have been able to use old
B&W monitors with this.
Also important what is the vid memory of the cards in your machines.
Anything below 1mb forget using 800x600 resolution. 2mb for 1024x780.
