[K12OSN] Samba/Ldap Win2k/XP GPO's

Does anyone know how to manage GPOs without AD or Novell's Zen works?

I am looking for a package which will allow me to integrate our Windows 2k/xp machines into Our samba setup but still apply GPOs globally without having to travel to each station or connect to each station individually and manage 1 to 1.

I am looking at the pGina login authenticator to try and setup authenticated login to an LDAP directory.

Not sure, as I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to setup our system and still give the same service as if we were using Zenworks or dare I say WinServ and AD.

What I would like.
Servers (Samba or NFS)
Clients 2K or XP
A method to apply GPOs globally based on a UNC path or something?
