I have upgraded other systems, but not K12LTSP, using yum.

Sometimes I have to do it in pieces.

Try just plain 'yum upgrade" to start with. Maybe it works !

If it does not, check the conflicts - "yum remove" them, noting
them for re-addition later.

Sometimes it is quicker to "yum update <selected packages>" in 
the beginning, as it can take a /long/ time to resolve dependencies,
like, perhaps, "yum upgrade XFree86".

This is another very nice repository, especially if you want mplayer
or other packages :-
