am doing trans proxy...squid...with dansguardian...
but am using the default 3128 port to go through unfiltered...

... maybe, are you using a proxy? I've found that it doesn't work well 
with transparent proxying. If I connect through modem to my ISP it works

fine, if I go through our schools hierarchy of Squid proxies it will 
wait indefinitely. The developer has been notified but I haven't had a 
reply.
