Funny. Using beta4, I did an install from a USB drive as a hard drive 
install. It worked fine, booting from a the CD.
One problem I had was that the laptop did not support the USB drive with 
enough power at the USB port, so it had some power issues once the 
install actually started asking for data from the drive.
