You could try a new boot rom it *might* make a difference (use a
different version).  Try 5.3

I just tried updating my lstp 4.  It looks like only one kernel has been released.  

If you want a different kernel you have some work on your hands.  Get on the irc at:

Server: irc.freenode.net
Channel: #ltsp

and see if someone can help out.  You can also try ltsp 3 instead.
