[K12OSN] mount of NFS drive takes 2+ minutes

My LTSP mounts a drive off of our file server in order to keep the
home directories and such. However the mounting takes about 2-3
minutes. (Enough time to get a cup of coffee.) All the machines are on
a private GigaBit network that only has about 12 nodes. Is this
behavior normal? I should note the NFS server is a Mac xServe and the
drive is about 150GB.
