Steve is alive and well, I've mangled his address - it is
paua at quicksiver.net.nz

i've asked him for help with setting up scanning on the terminals, which
he did for the 3.0 and 3.1.2 versions. it appears that the new improved
usb lib for ltsp 4.1 is really btoken and JimMcQ has no time to fix it, so
Steve has used the old sanner module. he is now finishing the packaging,
so that i can go production with it - i want to be able to go through the
upgrade from my prod 3.1.2 to 4.1.0 without loosing scanners.
you can contact him directly, the packaging is rather rough because it
was all supposed to go into ltsp 4.1, but it didn't.
the sacnning works rather well on cheap scanners. it is not as fast as on
directly connected device - network slows it down, but it is fast enough.
the problem is scanner selection - when you have many scanners, it is
hell.
