Just a thought..... can you invoke a program launch by requesting a 
filetype to be opened? Like:

rdesktop -f -d midnight -a 16 -s blank_doc.doc 10.0.6.254

and use Windows' file association behaviour to make it open winword.exe (or whatever program is associated with .DOC).
