No experience with LTSP, but Mplayer should be able to handle it, if available.
Though there may be some issue with getting the appropriate stuff to play
the AVIs.  (DLLs, maybe?)

Another alternative is to use the Mplayer tool "mencoder" to convert the
AVI into something more easily accessed (e.g., MPEG).
