Not sure about the other problem, but the 'linux mediacheck' thing is
probably like the memory testers.  You tell it what to boot, then what
to do after booting.  In other words, you are telling it to boot
linux, then run 'mediacheck' afterwards.  By typing just mediacheck,
it has no clue what to boot and throws the error message back.
