[K12OSN] My latest idea....can it work?

(With regard to my earlier idea about failover and load-balancing two LTSP
servers)

Hey! Check this out....this looks easy! Note the statement about Static
IP's at the bottom....we can use them...they simply have to be the same on
both servers. An easy way to do this would be to use the include
"filename" statement like Les mentioned....thus the included file could be
the workstation declarations for static or reserved IP's. Then you simply
copy that file between the servers. Right?

So my idea....run DHCP on both my K12LTSP servers....do it in this
failover/load-balancing fashion....put all of my static IP declarations
(printers, servers, and wi-fi access points) into a file and "include"
it...and put a copy on each server. Whaddya' think? Could this work?

I'm going to be away until Wed p.m. (leaving tomorrow to go with my son to
cub scout Webelos camp)....this idea is going to fester in my head until
then....I'm dying to try it. Do me a favor....try it and write it up for
me so I can just do it once I return *smile* :-)

Oh....BTW....passing the next server and option root path in the
workstation declarations in dhcpd.conf WILL override the setting in the
globals. (Tried it this p.m.) This means you can point all your lab
machines to one server and let the rest go to the other server....for
example.
