[K12OSN] Setting proxy in Firefox for ALL users...HOW?

Hi David :D

Check out /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/defaults/pref

It contains a string named:

network.proxy.share.proxy.settings

This is from what i can understand a file in wich you can put some default settings for all new users. Make a working proxy setting in firefox and then type about:config in the adress bar. Then you type this in the filter input bar:

network.proxy

That should give you the settings you need to transfer to the above mentioned file.

This only works on new users, the old ones just listen to whats specified in their ~ dir if im not all mistaken.

Another way is if you setup mozilla as you want it to be for your users, bookmarks, proxy and all. Then copy your complete dir out to /etc/skel and give it chmod 100644 and chown root:root. It should work just fine that way too and you can easily copy the settings over to existing users.

Well, its a start, i hope you get it working.

How can I set either a manual proxy or auto-detect proxy for all users on
my K12LTSP box? Is it something can set in a master account that users
will pull their inital mozilla prefs from? I'm using DansGuardian with
pam_auth this year so I need to set the proxy.
