The correct route is to add a "ShareUPS" device to the mix. The
shareUPS takes a feed from the UPS and then splits out 4 or 5 serial
ports. I don't know the pricing - I just get given them at work!

Another route could be to try and copy /dev/tty0 to /dev/tty1 and then
run up the UPS software - see if that works?
