[K12OSN] updating kernel from FC3 to FC3smp lost partitions

Hello all,
After updating kernel from K12LTSP 4.2 FC3 to FC3smp the partitions /home, /tmp, /var created for quotas were 
lost and joined to one large partition. The updating was done by command:

yum install kernel-smp system-config-boot

Is it possible? 
How to recover lost partitions without loosing operating system?
Is it possible to install smp kernel somehow redirecting instalation from distro CD from FC3 to FC3smp?
Please advice.Thank you.
