in the range.  I think the computer will attempt to
determine if a specific 3 octet is used, then assign an IP in that
range.  ie, if the first computer self assigns , then the
second one would self assign something in  Hmm, just
thinking, I don't recall if the netmask on a self assigned is, or 

RFC 3330 lists special use IPV4 addresses.
