I'm wondering if there are just some different video card drivers/libraries 
in the newer xorg updates.  My systems too, had to get re-tweaked- downward, 
to get X up.  If so, perhaps we can get from somewhere the older libraries 
for our older systems.  If the older libraries talked nicely to our systems 
before, they ought to now, right?
