As for the OP -- I would HIGHLY suggest ROX filer. Assuming you/your
users do not use a "tree" view, I personally thing ROX is the best
choice. If you need the tree view, then I would stick with xwc. I have
done a TON of searching on the same topic, since my first Linux box was
a P100 with 64Mb ram and Redhat 7. ( ROX, Blackbox, Dillo and Sylpheed
is how I "cut my teeth" with Linux and have never gone back )

I'm a little curious about what your trying to do. When you copy one
file in ROX it is not like Windows where you can paste it in somewhere
else, you have to edit the name. When you want to copy a bunch of file,
you can open a second ROX window (Right click, and choose from the
windows option) then drag-n-drop. You may have to
experiment once or twice to find the copy. I have mine set to when ever
I drag-n-drop it asks if I want to copy/move/link. A Ctrl-Drag will
always copy.

You can even set ROX to "spring open" a directory when ever you move a
file over it (similar to MACs).
