Re: [K12OSN] SquidGuard and Proxy Questions

A colleage of mine and I put together a contrib for the SME Server (when using squidGuard) to rewrite google image searches to force the safe search options.

See this article:

And this package:

It's just a few changes to the squidguard.conf file. So, if you want to use IPCop/squidGuard... you should be able to make the same changes there.

Hope that helps,

Yes, that was one of the options but I will probably
just use an IPCOP/SquidGuard combination if I can work
out how to block google's safe search off option.

One of my questions was how to force a browser to use
the proxy if I did not do transparent proxy in a way
that would prevent users from removing the proxy or
needing to configure each user individually. This
would only be required if the squidGuard was on the
K12LTSP machine...

Not only possible...I'm doing it. I run an SME

server with proxy,

transparent proxying....running DansGuardian.

Works fantastic!

Errr, isn't that a 2nd machine? I think the

question was about

running it on the k12ltsp server which also happens

to be where

the client browsers run.
