Here is the error message when I tried to access mysql:
[root at server ~]# service mysqld start
Initializing MySQL database:                               [  OK  ]
Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon.
Starting MySQL:                                            [FAILED]
[root at server ~]# mysql
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)
[root at server ~]#
