do a "> locate mysql.sock"
if you find it do:
ln /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock /whatever/path/you/find/it/mysql.sock

if it's there already restart the computer and if that dosen't solve it, please
search for mysql install tuts. Or that book "Setting up Lamp"
