I tried CentOS and ended up with the same issue. I did find a good post
on the CentOS list on how to recompile the old driver and get it working
on the most recent CentOS. 

Just for the heck of it I installed Ubuntu and it went without a hitch.
So much for standardizing on one distribution.

Many folks complaining about lack of support for these older Dell / LSI
megaraid drivers in recent versions of RH based distros.

FWIW I joined a dell list. I am quite surprised at how many people are
still using RH 7 and 8.
