[K12OSN] smbldap log in error (Krsnendu dasa)

Krsnendu dasa krsnendu at orcon.net.nz
Wed Mar 9 19:14:23 UTC 2005

First one window comes up saying
"The files that contain your preference settings are currently in use.
You might be logged into a session from another computer and the other login
session is using preference settings files.
You can continue to use the current session but this might cause temporary
problems with the preference settings in the other session.
Do you want to continue. Logout/Continue"

Then another window comes up with

"Contact your system administrator to resolve the following problem. Could
not resolve address "xml:readwrite:/home/krsnendu/.gconf" in the
configuration file "/etc/gconf/2/path:" Failed could not make directory
'/home/Krsnendu/.gconf': permission denied."

This message above is the error message I get when trying to login to
K12LTSP using GUI from thin client and from cygwin.

Hi Krsnendu,

Your existing users shouldn't be a problem unless they exist
simultaneiously as regular Linux users *and* Samba/LDAP users.

Can you tell us which error message you get? It's difficult to
diagnose your problem otherwise. :)

Also, how/where are you trying to log in? The GUI? A terminal or
ssh? Windows? A thin-client?
