[K12OSN] apt dist-upgrade problems

I tried an 'apt-get dist-upgrade' only a few days after the last 'apt-
get upgrade' and got a few errors that have bamboozled this punter.
With a bit of judicious cutting and pasting from the command line output
it boils down to this:

[root at local ~]# apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done

-snip-

You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  fonts-xorg-truetype: Obsoletes: xorg-x11-truetype-fonts but 6.7.0-11
is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

... that's one problem, then >

[root at local ~]# apt-get dist-upgrade -f

-snip-

I don't know if it a hint or a red herring, but I screwed up my rpm
database by trying to use Dags repository one more time before removing
it from my list and rebuilding the rpm database. The error above came
after that process and rebuild.

Are others seeing anything like this? Any hints about how to resolve
it?
