[K12OSN] is there a UPS known to work with K12LTSP?

UPS's are really to keep the machine alive when there is a power outage 
=) and then when UPS runs out of juice to call a clean shutdown.
so you don't have a fatal crash(happened just 2 days ago to me)
a little fsck later everything was back up and running.
and I thought APC made one with a serial interface for linux.

And on a side note...
how to calculate the SIZE of the UPS needed?
say I want to be sure the machines stay live for 1hr,
