Strictly theory here, but couldn't you export the users home directory
from the OSX box with NFS.  Then create a blank folder on the Linux
server preferably named the same as the exported directory from OSX.
Set the linux server to mount the exported dir on startup.  Then set the
Linux box to auth via LDAP to the OSX box.
