Thank you for your reply.  It seems that by not automatically setting the
DNS, all is well.  Thanks again. This was a small but bugging problem.

This sounds like the default gateway is incorrect.  You should
be using only the one picked up from DHCP.  Use the 'route'
command to see what you have.  If you have configured a
default gateway in the eth1 configuration, remove it.
