[K12OSN] keduca freezes up gnome

Is any one having this problem?  When I go to save a test in keduca it
freezes up gnome until force quit popup happens a minute after I try
to exit.  I'd really like to show this program to our teachers.  Any
idea about fixing this?  Running from the command line gives this
output after it quits:

Mutex destroy failure: Device or resource busy
ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 5758, errno = 0
