Sorry if this reply doesn't get threaded correctly; I just joined this list to 
respond to your question.

I just wanted to drop a note that the company I work for, Safedesk [1], has an 
LTSP-based product and one of its features is Accelerated Reader 
compatibility. I know that we have experience running AR up to versions 6.x 
working without any bugs. And depending on your needs, we can get it working 
with either a variant of Wine (run it in a window) or using a TS version of 
Win4Lin (run in on a Win9x desktop window).
