[K12OSN] K12LTSP Disk Best Practices

For my new K12LTSP server I'm putting together (quad PIII with 2GB RAM), I have 4 available drive bays to install any combination of 9GB, 18GB or 36GB SCSI 10K drives using hardware RAID. What configuration of RAID and partitions should I create for a reasonable compromise between performance and fault-tolerance? 

I'd like to not waste disk if I don't have to, so would the addition of second server with less power but more disk be helpful?
