I'm running Samba3 / OpenLDAP on a FC3 machine installed with the K12 smbldap-installer script.
Everything seems to be working OK except every now and then things slow to a crawl and other samba
server can't authenticate against it, timing out after 1000ms.
I've looked through the slapd.conf file and one of the things that I've noticed is that there isn't
any cache setup in the file. I've read at serveral places that this is quite important, directives
I was looking at are
slapd.conf
cachesize 10000
dbcachesize 1000000
Also there is no loglevel set so I think it's defaulting to 256 is this bad ??
I'm just trying to get things upto speed as we've only been running less than a week with students
and things a slowing down.
Any idea's on how to speed things up will be gratefully received.
